Foreword: 2021-02-09

Original text was written in MS Word with the VinerHand ITC font. Around the turn of the millennium (and just figuring out life in Middle School), fonts were a big part of this geek's life. I played around with so many, and a lot of old writing for school, such as this, included it to an awful extent. Jason Youngblood was a main character in the old DOS Battletech games that I loved, and thus wrote some fan-fiction before I knew what it was called.

Jason Youngblood - Letter

January 1, 3597

My Dear Friend,

I have made up my mind to keep a Diary on the happenings in my time of service. I started it a few weeks ago on December 13 of 3596. It is a great success so far. It will contain facts on a range of things from the journeys that I make in reality, to the details of my wars, to the most detailed descriptions of my worst fears. I plan to put it in a safe, but am afraid of it getting lost. Who knows, the safety deposit boxes now are easier to get into than in the 20th Century despite our advanced technology.

For you people who read this information might want to read my entries in the future. I will try to get them to be published by the “New Age Publishing Co.” seeing people say that they are the best. To let you know my opinion I think they really stink, so does the rest of my squad and our captain. It is almost end time for our rest period so I must say goodbye to you and I hope you will get to read my diary and further letters.

Assistant Squad Leader of the 12th Mobile Infantry Division,
